KUALA LUMPUR, December 19 – The Disaster Recovery Network (GDRN) of Government Linked Companies (GLC) and Government Linked Investment Companies (GLIC) has been activated to provide social assistance and support the public affected by the flash floods and landslides, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) said.
He said, to begin with, that a total of RM 50 million has been allocated to relief initiatives including a RM 25 million matching grant from the government while the GLC / GLIC will jointly contribute an additional RM 25 million. .

He said together with GDRN members, TM will mobilize rescue and aid efforts to ensure basic necessities and healthcare can be provided to those in need.
The 56th Royal Signals Telekom Army Reserve Regiment, which includes volunteers from TM, has been deployed to the field to provide emergency assistance and services involving internet and phone lines across the country.

Meanwhile, Imri said that some telecommunications services provided by TM were affected and a number of telecommunications equipment, especially in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang, were damaged, causing service disruption in several regions.
In the meantime, we have had to cut off power and network equipment in some areas as a precaution to ensure the safety of people nearby and to minimize potential risks.
