Memorandum of Understanding signed on animal health and welfare policies


The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Brook Pakistan in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Implementation of Animal Health and Welfare Services in Punjab.

The agreement was signed at the campus of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore.

Honorary Secretary Emeritus of the SPCA, Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani, Head of SPCA, Dr. Fawad Badar, Brook Pakistan Program Manager, Dr. Javed Iqbal Gondal and Brook Pakistan Advocacy Manager, Syed Naeem Abbas , have signed the memorandum of understanding.

The Chairman of the Department of Parasitology, Dr. Kamran Ashraf, and officials from the SPCA and Brooks Pakistan were present on the occasion.

Under the MoU, Brooks Pakistan and the Livestock Department will provide support to the SPCA to improve animal welfare in Punjab, including assessments and training of SPCA staff, as well as facilitating the SPCA on a multi-layered referral system for treatment and vaccination at the veterinary hospital and dispensaries. for equine work.

The SPCA will educate people about animal welfare, including transportation, load management, and rules against hitting and abusing animals.

SPCA staff will provide emergency treatment to animals, while all parties will jointly organize mass awareness campaigns, World Animal Day, animal fairs, animal competitions and other events.
