PETALING JAYA: A committee has been set up to support and strengthen governance and efficiency in the distribution of social assistance to university students, says Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad (Photo).
The Higher Education Minister said she would lead the Malaysian Action Committee on Family Student Livelihood while the Institutional Level Implementation Committee would be chaired by the respective Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Heads of Institutions higher education (HEI).
“The first meeting was held on July 12 in the presence of the senior management of the ministry, rectors and representatives of public universities, presidents and representatives of associations of private HEIs, presidents and representatives of the National Student Advisory Council.
“Seven decisions were adopted at the meeting, including six months of rental exemptions for cafeteria operators and food service providers on public university campuses, and the Malaysian Family Students’ Food Basket initiative where the Malaysian family menu worth RM3.50 under the initiative must be appropriate and reflect the diversity of HEI racial composition.
